Camden woman charged after child burned in bath

CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Camden County mother is charged with abuse or neglect of a child after the baby was badly burned on Feb. 13.

Abigail Rea told deputies that Samuel Webster always gives the baths but it is always in lukewarm water.

Officials say the father, Webster, gave the child a bath that caused substantial burns on the child's body.

During the investigation, a doctor from the Springfield hospital stated the burns appear to be those where the victim is dunked into hot water and no splash marks.

Rea told deputies she knew something was wrong but waited 24 hours before getting medical treatment for the child.

The child was taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment.

Rea's initial court appearance is schedule for April 5.
