Columbia woman faces federal drug criminal complaint
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A criminal complaint has been filed against a Columbia woman accusing her of distributing 500 grams or more of meth.
According to the criminal complaint, the DEA and Columbia Police knew of Christina Maurizi, 39, since 2016 that allegedly trafficked large amounts of meth in Mid-Missouri. In November 2020, law enforcement opened an active investigation into Maurizi.
Court documents reveal law enforcement tracked Maurizi's driving habits around Columbia and followed another driver after an alleged meet-up.
The other driver was soon stopped due to erratic driving according to court documents and law enforcement found 927 grams of meth inside a package. 927 grams of meth is 3,708 user-level doses according to court documents.
During a post-Miranda interview with police, the other driver told police that he bought two pounds of meth from Maurizi.
Police report Maurizi was arrested with a handgun in her possession, marijuana and $34,000 in currency.
Maurizi faces a minimum of 10 years imprisonment to life imprisonment and up to a $10,000,000 fine.
