Shannon Dowell beats the buzzer to take down Cal as Mizzou women’s basketball wins the ACC/SEC challenge

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's women's basketball team improved to 8-2 behind a late second half rally.

Head coach Kellie Harper's squad came into the ACC/SEC challenge in search of a fourth consecutive win. After overcoming a late seven-point deficit, they managed to secure the win thanks to a Shannon Dowell layup with one second remaining as the Tigers defeated the Golden Bears 68-67

She went on to finish the game with 25 points and seven rebounds. Just behind her, Grace Slaughter ended with 21 and 10 as they accounted for two-thirds of the team's total points.

The Tigers trailed by two after the first half, and despite Cal going on a 12-2 run in the third quarter to lead by as many as seven, MU rallied to draw even and take its first lead of the game with less than one minute remaining. After Cal retook the lead by one with 30 seconds left. But Shannon Dowell sealed the deal with one second on the clock to pick up the Tiger's eighth win of the season.
