Mizzou football in second week of spring practices

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team is already on to its second week of spring camp, as the 2025 season is now just over 170 days away.

You can watch extended highlights from practice in the video player below.

The Tigers are spending spring ball focusing on individual player development, as well as building chemistry with a new group of transfers. In total, head coach Eli Drinkwitz and his staff are working with 20 new transfers this offseason.

With those newer guys in the building, MU will be relying the returning voices to lead the charge into 2025.

Linebacker Triston Newson is returning for his third year at Mizzou, thanks to the NCAA's new eligibility ruling which allows former junior college players to gain another year of eligibility. The Mississippi-native will undoubtedly be a leader in Batoon's unit. However, it's not an unfamiliar role for the linebacker, as he's been a veteran in the room for years now.

You can watch the full press conference with Newson in the video player below.

You will also see other players stepping into newly-found leadership roles through spring ball. Defensive end Zion Young is stepping up, following the graduation of former Mizzou star Johnny Walker Jr. Young transferred to MU from Michigan State ahead of the 2024 campaign, but now has a full year as a Tiger under hit belt.

You can watch the full press conference with Young in the video player below.

Batoon, Newson and Young will all speak to the media after practice, on Wednesday. You will be able to find their full press conferences, right here, later in the day.
