Mizzou lands first commitment to 2026 recruiting class

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Head Coach Eli Drinkwitz and his staff have started building its next recruiting class.

Defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy Jr. announced he is committing to Mizzou, becoming the first prospect to pledge to the program's 2026 class.

The Little Rock, Arkansas, native is considered a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and ESPN. Kennedy Jr. is also listed as the No. 4-ranked prospect in his home state, the No. 29-ranked player at his position in the nation and a top 300 overall recruit in the country, based on On3's Industry Rating.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman held offers from 23 different schools, including ones from Arkansas, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, USC, Kansas State and SMU.

Kennedy Jr.'s commitment arrives less than two weeks after Coach Drinkwitz and his staff signed 17 players to its 2025 class, solidifying the program's fourth top 25 recruiting class in five years.
