Three Mizzou wrestlers remain in contention for NCAA championship

Sessions I and II have wrapped up at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, and a trio of Mizzou wrestlers have advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective championship brackets. Keegan O'Toole, Rocky Elam and Zach Elam won both of their bouts on Wednesday at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, punching their tickets to Friday morning's quarterfinal round.
O'Toole won both of his matches by pinning his opponents in 2:55 and 5:58 in round one and round two respectively. Rocky Elam captured a pair of wins by decision, and Zach Elam clinched a victory by fall and a win by decision in his two matches.
Josh Edmond and Colton Hawks are the only other Mizzou wrestlers who have not been eliminated from the tournament. Edmond won his first match 4-1 in sudden victory while Hawks defeated his opponent 4-2 by decision in the opening round. However, both wrestlers fell to their respective consolation brackets after losing their second round bouts.
Noah Surtin, Kade Moore, Logan Gioffre, Brock Mauller and Peyton Mocco all lost two matches on Thursday, ending their seasons.
As a team, Tiger Style currently sits in a tie for 10th place with Oklahoma State.
Sessions III and IV are scheduled to begin on Friday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
