Robin Pingeton will return to Mizzou for year 14

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A spokesperson for the Mizzou women's basketball team has confirmed Friday that head coach Robin Pinegton will be returning for her 14th season with the Tigers.

This news comes just four days after the end of the 2022-23 season where the team fell 75-47 in the WNIT to rival Kansas finishing 18-14 on the year.

The season started good for Pingeton's group going 14-2 to start the year including 3-0 in SEC play. January was when the group hit a rough patch losing six straight and struggling to get back on track.

The Tigers have not managed to make an NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2018-19 season.

Currently, Pingeton has two years left on her contract and if the university wanted to end her contract thsi offseason they would have owed a buyout of nearly $1.2 million.

Pingeton has some solid talent coming in the class of 2023 including Grace Slaughter from Grain Valley who was named Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year. Slaughter is one of two four-star Mizzou commits for next season, the other is Skylar Jones from Whitney Young High in Chicago.
