Tracking dangerous heat through Labor Day weekend

TONIGHT: Hot in the evening, with temperatures in the 90s through sunset. Lows fall to the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and dangerously hot, with a heat index up to 105 degrees. Pop-up storms are possible to the southeast, but no relief is expected.

EXTENDED: Saturday and Sunday mornings could both see isolated storms this weekend, but the summer heat holds strong. The heat index will climb to near or above 100 on Sunday before somewhat drier air moves in. That should allow the feels-like to fall below the triple digits on Labor Day, but it will still be hot in the upper 90s. The heat rears its head again Tuesday and Wednesday next week, threatening the triple digits, though we may see another bout of relief later in the forecast.
