COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Less than one month after stepping into her role as the head women's golf coach at Mizzou, Caroline Westrup has brought in someone who is more familiar with Columbia to help her out.

Mizzou alum Michelle Parrish, formerly Michelle Butler, was a standout at Mizzou from 2011-16 and most recently was at Columbia College as the men's and women's golf head coach.

"Being a former high-level player at Mizzou provides her a unique understanding of what it takes to be successful here and will be an advantage as we recruit championship-caliber players to our program," Westrup said.

Parish led the women's golf team at CC to a 2022 American Midwest Conference (AMC) team championship and a top-30 finish at its first NAIA Women's Golf National Championship while the men's golf team tied for second at the AMC Championships.

As a player for the Tigers, Parrish earned second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors after a record-breaking season in 2016. She recorded four runner-up finishes her senior year, while leading the team to NCAA East Regional Championships.

"It's a dream to be coaching at my alma mater and I cannot wait to help Caroline take this program to the next level," Parish said.
