Royals offense lacks in sweep against Mariners

SEATTLE, Wa. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals couldn't get the bats going early enough on Sunday as the Mariners completed the series sweep with a 3-2 victory.

Seattle had six total hits on the day, while Kansas City had five in the low-scoring affair.

The Royals didn't manage to get on the board until the eighth inning off of a two-run home run from Nelson Velazquez.

Alec Marsh had a solid start on the hill allowing five hits and three runs in early six innings pitched. He also had nine total strikeouts on the day.

With the series loss, Kansas City sits at 41-91 on the season. Up next, the team returns home to host the Pirates Monday at 7:10 p.m.
