Mahomes leads Kansas City to a big opening win in the desert

GLENDALE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs starting the season in a big way with a 44-21 road win against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mahomes went off in the opener going 30/39 for 360 yards and throwing a huge five touchdowns.

His favorite target of the day was Travis Kelce who finished with 121 yards and a TD. Clyde Edwards-Helaire also had two receiving touchdowns plus added 42 yards on the ground.

Isiah Pacheco was the teams leading rusher with 62 yards and a score.

On the defense, former Mizzou Tiger Nick Bolton lead the team with nine tackles. The three sacks on the day came from L'Jarius Sneed, Carlos Dunlap and Tershawn Wharton.

Up next - The Chiefs will have the home opener at Arrowhead Stadium Thursday at 7:15 p.m. against the Chargers.
