Battle football coach confirms departure from head coaching position

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Battle High School is searching for its next head football coach.

Matthew Herman confirmed to ABC 17 Sports that he is no longer serving as the head coach of Battle's football program. He informed the team on Thursday.

Herman held Battle's head coaching position for the last two seasons, but the Spartans only posted a 4-16 overall record during that span. The program's last district tournament win was from the 2022 campaign against Capital City.

Battle has experienced a lot of turnover within its football program, beginning the hunt for its fourth head coach in five seasons. Before Herman's departure from the position, Jonah Dubinski (two years) and Attiyah Ellison (two years) served as the school's most recent head coaches.

Check back for updates.
