Arnold transitions to new position, Moore named interim Columbia College head coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia College Women's Basketball will have a new leader on the sidelines next season. The college announced on Wednesday that James Arnold is transitioning to a new position of Vice President of Student Experience and Director of Athletics, and Matt Moore will now serve as the program's interim head coach for the 2024-25 campaign.

"I am excited and thankful for this opportunity to become the next head women's basketball coach here at Columbia College," Moore said in Wednesday's press release. "I would like to extend thanks to Dr. Russell, as well as Taylor Possail and James Arnold who were instrumental to my arrival at CC and my development during my three years as an assistant. I look forward to continuing the standard of success set by my predecessors."

Moore was an assistant coach on the Columbia College Women's Basketball staff for the last three seasons, helping lead the program to three straight AMC Tournament titles, three NAIA Tournament appearances and a 79-17 overall record. Before that, he served as an assistant at St. Louis Community College and Westminster College for a combined four years.

"I am thrilled for Matt and know he will do an incredible job," Director of Athletics James Arnold said in the press release. "Having coached with him at three different institutions I've seen firsthand the quality of his work. He is a master at skill work training, a high-level communicator, and light years ahead of most when it comes to analytics."

Columbia College posted a 27-5 record and an AMC Tournament championship during the 2023-24 season.
