Pair of local teams earn spots in NAIA Baseball Opening Round

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two mid-Missouri college baseball programs have been selected to compete in the opening round of the NAIA Tournament. The college athletics association announced on Thursday both Columbia College and Central Methodist have secured NAIA Tournament berths.

The Cougars will travel to Tennessee for the Kingsport Bracket. Columbia College will face Tennessee Wesleyan in the first game of the bracket at Hunter Wright Stadium on May 13. Webber International (Fla.) and Freed Hardeman are also competing in the same bracket.

The Eagles are hosting their own bracket in Fayette next week. The Fayette Bracket features Central Methodist, Hope International (Calif.), Tabor (Kan.) and Northwestern Ohio. The Eagles will also play on May 13, facing Tabor (Kan.) at Estes Baseball Field.

Both brackets are scheduled to start on May 13 and last until May 16. Game times have not been announced yet.
