COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou women's basketball coach Kellie Harper is bringing in an NBA veteran to serve as the program's new Director of Athletic Performance.

On Tuesday, Tiger Athletics announced that Brandon Joyner will take on that role for MU, starting in the 2026-27 campaign. He will come to Columbia after five years with the Dallas Mavericks organization, where he spent four years as the performance coach, before being promoted to the director of G-League health and performance.

Prior to his time in the Lone Star state, Joyner also served as the performance coach for the Sacramento Kings.

However, his first stint in the NBA came back in 2018, when he spent three years as the head strength and conditioning coach at the Canton Charge, which is now known as the Cleveland Charge, the G League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Joyner also has experience at the collegiate level, spending one season as the associate head strength and conditioning coach and head powerlifting coach at McKendree University. He also made a stop at Florida State from 2014-18, where, as an assistant, he oversaw strength and conditioning for men's and women's golf, track and field and the cross country programs. During his time in Tallahassee, he also coached 16 athletes who qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

He also made stops at Georgia Tech and Samford, earlier in his career.
