MSHSAA track and field championships cut short on day three due to weather

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The first bit of action for classes four and five at the MSHSAA track and field championships was halted after just two races due to severe weather.

Only the 4x800 meter relays were able to crown champions before the rain and lightning brought an end to competition. However, mid-Missouri was represented on the top step of the podium, with the Bruins taking home the gold.

The team of Baron Carratura, Cook Hudson, Luke Sievers, and Brennan Scott braved the elements to finish in first place with a time of 7:46.92.

No field event final reached its conclusion before the storm rolled in. Those events in progress will pick up where they left off at the start of Saturday's slate.

Both running and field events are set to get underway again on Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. The competition will have a rolling start after those first competitions finish.
