Mizzou pitcher enters the transfer portal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
One of the most recognizable names on Mizzou softball's pitching staff has entered the transfer portal, following the 2025 season.
On Sunday, Lee's Summit native Taylor Pannell confirmed with ABC 17 Sports that she made the decision to throw her name into the portal, after spending three seasons in Columbia. She ends her time as a Tiger with a career 2.75 ERA, 24 saves, 11 wins and 123 strikeouts.
Pannell had become a versatile asset for head coach Larissa Anderson over the years. In 2024, she worked as the team's primary closer, as she had a run the program will never forget. Over the course of her sophomore season, the left-hander matched the NCAA's single-season saves record with a career-best 15 through the year. She also leads the NCAA as the current active career saves leader with 24 ( three in 2025, 15 in 2024, six in 2023).
However, in 2025, Pannell moved into a starting role for Coach Anderson. For the first time in her collegiate career, she started in seven games and ended her junior season with a 3.33 ERA.
She gave Tiger fans a pretty memorable ride in her three seasons in the black and gold, tossing out the game-winning strikeouts in various Top-25 wins, NCAA Regional victories and a whole lot more.
As it stands following her expected departure, Mizzou will have five pitchers on staff. You can find a list of those names below.
- Right-hander Marissa McCann
