Mizzou wide receiver declares for the NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another Mizzou football standout has declared the 2025 NFL Draft.

After two years in Columbia, Tiger wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. announced he will be taking a shot at making it at the next level. He joins running backs Marcus Carroll and Nate Noel, as well as defensive end Johnny Walker Jr. in seniors to declare for the draft, following the bowl game.

In total, six MU players have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, including junior wide receiver Luther Burden and junior offensive lineman Armand Membou.

Wease Jr. made the most of his time in Columbia, after transferring in from Oklahoma ahead of the 2023 season. In his debut season as a Tiger, the Texas-native played a major role in Mizzou's Cotton Bowl championship. He ended that campaign with 49 receptions for 682 yards and six scores, averaging nearly 14 yards per catch.

In 2024, he continued his reign as one of the team's top receivers. He finished the season with 60 catches for a team-high of 884 yards, along with four touchdowns. Once again, he averaged about 14 yards per catch, even breaking lose for a season-long 70 yarder in the win in the snow game against Arkansas to end the regular season.

Sadly, Wease Jr. didn't get to close out his final game as a Tiger, as he went down with an upper body injury in MU's Music City Bowl win against Iowa. Despite his early exit, Wease Jr. was still second on the team with 75 yards on five receptions and one touchdown.

Wease Jr. will now work towards the NFL Draft, which will take place Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
