Rivalry renewed: Mizzou and Oklahoma meet at Faurot Field for first time since 2010
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
On Saturday, the Mizzou football team will host Oklahoma at Faurot Field for the first time since 2010, as the Tigers and the Sooners will be starting a new chapter in this storied grudge fest.
Former Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel described these matchups as, "remarkably competitive." He said, "I think each team knows that the other one can beat them.”
The last time OU made its way to Columbia, the Sooners were ranked No. 1. However, a date with the Tigers did not go as planned, as Pinkel and company came out on top in a 36-27 win.
“Oklahoma had always been like the big brother that constantly bullies you and beats you every time. But then, Mizzou started becoming that younger brother that, you know, started become a little bit stronger than their older brother," former Mizzou star Gahn McGaffie said.
Former players and coaches had a message for the current Tiger team, ahead of Saturday's big game.
“Understand the greats that built this foundation and come out there and give it all you got for just Mizzou history," former Tiger wide receiver Jerrell Jackson said.
