Royals lose series against Rangers in extra innings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Texas Rangers came back from a two-run deficit to beat the Royals in extra innings, 3-2, on Sunday evening. With the victory, Texas also captured the series win over KC.
Kansas City took the lead over Texas out of the gates. Vinnie Pasquantino hit a sacrifice fly in the first for a 1-0 lead and then followed that up with an RBI double in the third to put his team on top by two runs. The Royals carried that lead all the way until the eighth inning.
In the eighth, Corey Seager got the Rangers on the board and that jolt was all his offense needed. In the ninth, Jonah Heim called tie ball game with a solo home run to right field to send the game to extra innings.
Texas scored in three-straight innings to end the game, as Nathaniel Lowe drove in the game-winning run in the 10th to capture the 3-2 victory.
It was a disappointing end to a strong outing from Royals pitcher Daniel Lynch, who had just gotten recalled this week. He threw five innings of two-hit, shutout baseball, fanning six batters. He will not carry the loss, though. That will go to James McArther who allowed the game-winning run on four hits in his two innings of work.
Up next - Kansas City will host the Milwaukee Brewers at Kauffman Stadium. Game one of the series is slated for Monday, May 6 at 6:40 p.m.
