Mizzou’s Robin Pingeton picks up first offseason commitment

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou women's basketball coach Robin Pingeton made her first offseason move on Tuesday afternoon.

New Mexico guard Nyah Wilson committed to MU, after one season in Albuquerque. The junior transferred to New Mexico after previously playing for two years at Syracuse.

Through the 2023-24 season, Wilson started in all 32 games for the Lobos. She averaged 15.5 points per game, which led the team, while shooting an average of 41 percent from the floor and about 35 percent from 3-point range. The rising senior was second on the team in assists, averaging about two per game, and also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

She made an instant impact in her one season in New Mexico. When she scored into double-digits, the Lobos went 17-8. The Texas-native led the team in scoring in 11 games, including a stretch where she led for five-straight games.

After success in her debut season, she was named the Mountain West Newcomer of the Year and was also selected for the All-Conference team. Throughout the 2023-24 campaign, she was named the Mountain West Player of the Week twice, finishing fifth in the conference in scoring and field goal percentage.

Before Wilson's time in New Mexico, she was in Syracuse, New York. She appeared in 40 total games through two seasons with the Orange.

Wilson is the first addition Pingeton has made in the offseason, after both guard Mama Dembele and forward Sarah Linthacum entered the transfer portal when the season wrapped up.
