WIN for Columbia announces ‘Together We WIN’ grant program
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Women's Intersport Network (WIN) for Columbia announced a new initiative, which will help Columbia girls participate in athletics, on Monday morning.
The 'Together We WIN' grant program will focus on girls in Columbia, Mo. who haven't started high school yet and who may need financial assistance to participate in athletic events, camps or leagues. You can find the full list of qualifications for the grant below.
- Be a female student attending school in Columbia, MO
- Be in Kindergarten - 8th grade during the given application year
- Qualify for the free or reduced lunch program at school
The program will award up to $500 in funding per cycle, April 1-March 31 annually, to put towards registration fees, athletic gear and any necessary apparel.
'Together We WIN' administrator and board member Kearsten Peoples said that her participation in sports opened up opportunities she never would have thought possible as a kid. The organization hopes to give the same to others with this grant.
“The Together We WIN is grant is designed to provide and expand the support given to young girls’ athletically, by aiding in the ability to participate in events that can lead to future opportunities. We hold true to our goal of promoting lifetime sport and fitness - it is never too early to win together," Peoples said in a press release.
