Harrisburg names new girls basketball coach

HARRISBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)

Harrisburg Athletics announced that former Osage girls basketball coach Jaryt Hunziker will be taking the helm of the girls basketball program for the 2024-25 season, on Tuesday morning.

Hunziker is no stranger to Mid-Missouri, either. He most recently coached the Indians in Osage Beach, but also had a very memorable run at Boonville High School. In his time with the Pirates, he led the program to its first-ever state championship, in 2021.

Throughout his career, he's brought his teams to a state title, two final four appearances, six district championships, eight conference titles and a 358-172 overall record, as he's also coached at Scotland County and Clark County.

In a release from the athletic department, Hunziker said, "Our family is looking forward to becoming a part of the Bulldog community and the start of something special at Harrisburg."

The Harrisburg girls team is coming off of a 13-14 finish in 2023-24, falling in the district semifinals to Salisbury in Feb.
