Mizzou soccer avoids first loss of the season in tie with Omaha

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou soccer team hoped to get three-straight wins to start the season, but instead the group still managed to avoid a loss with a 2-2 tie Thursday evening with Omaha.

The Mavericks were on the board first just over six minutes into play off of a corner kick. MU responded a little over four minutes later with a goal from Brianna Buels off of an assist from Olivia Chianelli.

The Omaha office struck back with a goal in the 19th minute to make it 2-1 at the break. Elena Zuchowski managed to tie things up in the 70th minute to avoid the loss.

The Tigers are now 2-0-1 on the season so far. Up next, the group will hit the road to play at Nebraska Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
