Mizzou shuts out SEMO in season opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The 2023 Mizzou soccer season started up on Thursday with a home win against in-state foe SEMO. The Tigers won the opener in shut out fashion 4-0.

The first goal of the day and of the season came from an assist from Brianna Buels and goal from Olivia Chianelli just ten minutes into play. The second goal of the first half was scored by Kylee Simmons and assisted by Shania Spriggs.

The Tigers then went on to score two more goals in the second half from Spriggs and Keegan Good.

Freshman Kate Phillips started the game in goal and Mia Collins came in to finish out the shut out.

Up next, Mizzou will hit the road to take on Creighton on Sunday at 6 p.m.
