Sunday Sit-down with Chris Kwiecinski

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones brought on the Columbia Tribune's sports editor Chris Kwiecinski in this week's edition of Sunday Sit-down.

The duo broke down a hectic week in the world of Mizzou football. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz picked up seven commitments in the span of five days to put the 2024 class at 10, total, commitments. According to Rivals, that class is ranked No. 61 in the nation.

The headliner of the Fourth of July week commitments came from four-star recruit James Madison. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver currently lives in Florida, but originally hails from the Kansas City area.

"That was the prospect that kind of put everything, okay, like now the class is starting to come together with not just the high ranking, but with the prestige that we've come to expect with Eli Drinkwitz and his recruiting talents," Kwiecinski said.

The recruiting success comes just a couple of weeks before Mizzou's turn at SEC Media Days in Nashville, Tenn. Drinkwitz will be making his fourth appearance at talkin' time, but has not announced which players will be going with him yet. Kwiecinski said he expects defensive end Darius Robinson to make the trip on July 17.

"I don't think there's anyone that the coaching staff has talked up more than Darius Robinson. He is a guy that may be a day two pick in the NFL draft in 2024," Kwiecinski said.
