LONDON, England. (KMIZ)

St. Louis rallied its way to a 7-5 win against Chicago in game two of the London series, after trailing by four runs in the first inning. With the win, the Cardinals split the series 1-1 with the Cubs.

The red birds are still in last place in the National League, central division standings, sitting at 32-45 overall. Meanwhile, the Cubs are making a climb, as the club is just two games below .500 and three games out of first place.

After getting blown out by eight runs on Saturday, Sunday's win was a step in the right direction for Cardinals hitters, especially Wilson Contreras. He went 4-for-4 with two runs scored against his former team.

The Cardinals had to scramble, as far as starting pitching goes. Jack Flaherty was supposed to start in the final game of the London series, but was scratched due to right hip tightness. Matthew Liberatore stepped in, instead. He did not record a good start, allowing Chicago to plate four runs in just the first inning.

Courtesy of some timely hitting from Brendan Donovan, St. Louis made it a one-run game in the second inning. Then, in the fourth, rookie Jordan Walker extended his hitting streak to 15 games, as he drove in a run to tie up the game. Donovan got on base to score in that same inning to give the birds the lead and the club never looked back.

Jake Woodford was handed the win on the hill for STL. He pitched a little more than two innings with one strikeout and no runs allowed on one hit.

Jordan Hick recorded, yet another, save on Sunday, as he tallied two strikeouts in the final frame.

Up next - St. Louis will return to Busch Stadium to host the Houston Astros on Tuesday, June 27. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
