Mizzou signs Kerrick Jackson to five-year, $3.625 million contract

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's new baseball coach Kerrick Jackson signed a five-year contract worth $3.625 million with the Tigers, according to a copy of that contract obtained by ABC 17.

The 49-year-old will make a guaranteed $675,000 in his first season. Each year after, his salary will increase by $25,000. The salary maxes out in year five at $775,000 per year.

Jackson is already making more than former head coach Steve Bieser, who was sitting at about $475,000 per year when he was fired. Although still more than Bieser's, Jackson's salary isn't the top amongst other coaches in the Southeastern Conference.

Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin makes the most out of any other coach in the SEC, ringing in at about $2.4 million per year. He's followed up by Ole Miss' Mike Bianco who made about $1.6 million per year in 2023. Jackson will rank 10th in the SEC with his first-year salary.

As far as benefits go, they are standard for a Mizzou head coach. He will gain a membership to the local country club, as well as a courtesy car.

There are several incentives included in the St. Louis-native's contract, as well. If he reaches a conference championship, he will earn five percent of his $300,000 base salary. You can find a full list of other incentives below.

• Regular season conference championship - 10 percent of $300,000 base salary
• NCAA appearance - two percent of $300,000 base salary
• NCAA Super Regional - four percent of $300,000 base salary
• NCAA World Series - eight percent of $300,000 base salary
• NCAA National Championship winner - 25 percent of $300,000 base salary
• Academic Achievement - two percent of $300,000 base salary
• Conference Coach of the Year - two percent of $300,000 base salary
• Regional Coach of the Year - two percent of $300,000 base salary
• National Coach of the Year - four percent of $300,000 base salary

Jackson would owe Mizzou 100 percent of his remaining compensation if he chose to leave the school before June 30, 2024. On the other hand, if MU fired him before that same date, the department would also owe him full compensation.
