South Callaway baseball punches ticket to Class 3 state title game

OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

The South Callaway Bulldogs are headed to the Class 3 state championship after a 9-4 win in Wednesday's semifinal game over Portageville. This will be the Bulldogs first trip back to the state title game after winning it back in 2017.

Portageville entered the semifinal game on a 21-game win streak and managed to get on the board first in the second inning.

South Callaway had a quiet offensive start until busting the door open in the fifth inning scoring all nine runs. Ethan Edwards led the way at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI's, plus Tucker Jones brought in two runs as well.

On the mound for South Callaway, Dane Daugherty allowed three hits in his six innings pitched. Ethan Edwards closed out the game in the seventh.

Up next, the Bulldogs will play for the Class 3 state championship on Thursday at 1 p.m. against Licking.
