Columbia College baseball wins AMC Championship over top-seeded Missouri Baptist

The Columbia College baseball team is the 2023 AMC Champion after taking down top-seeded Missouri Baptist 11-6 in Friday's title game.

As the No. 2 seed in the tournament, CC began play on Wednesday with an 8-2 win over Central Baptist. In Thursday's semifinals, the Cougars beat the Spartans 13-5 before taking them down again to claim the title.

In Friday's championship game, Columbia College took a commanding 9-0 lead in the fourth inning, but the Spartans didn't go down without a fight putting together four seventh inning runs.

The bats were led by Cayden Nicoletto and Riley Poulton both with two RBI's on the day. On the mound, Dan Fick got the win throwing nearly seven innings allowing four runs and picking up three strikeouts. Kaleb Richards threw two scoreless innings to end the game with four K's.

The Cougars sit at 38-13 on the season and 18-4 in the conference schedule. The last time the Cougars won the AMC title was in 2021.

Now the group will head to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
