Columbia College softball and baseball advance in AMC tournaments

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Both the Columbia College softball and baseball teams secured wins on Wednesday to advance to day three of the AMC tournaments.

Up first at Antimi Park, the softball team knocked off top-seed Cottey College 1-0. This game was truly a pitchers dual as Rock Bridge alum Ella Schouten allowed just four hits in her complete game pitched and picked up a whopping 12 strikeouts.

The sole run of the day for the Cougars came from Hickman's own Emily King with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Now the softball team advances to day three of the tournament taking on Missouri Baptist Thursday at 10 a.m.

After a first round bye, the CC baseball team also managed a win in Wednesday 9-2 over Central Baptist College.

The bats were led by Cayden Nicoletto going three-for-four with three RBI's, plus on the mound Bryce Taylor pitched eight scoreless innings recording six strikeouts.

The baseball team will also play Thursday at 10 a.m. against Missouri Baptist at CarShield Field in O'Fallon.
