Mizzou hangs on against Kansas on a big night for Luke Mann
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou baseball team completed the season-sweep against Kansas at Taylor Stadium on Tuesday night. The Tigers hung on against the Jayhawks for a 9-7 win.
MU scored eight, unanswered runs after KU got up 3-0 in the first inning, however, Kansas' Luke Leto hit a home run in the ninth inning to make it a three run game. After that, Zach Franklin took over on the hill for MU and let the Jayhawks load up the bases. He managed to minimize the bleeding, allowing one more sacrifice run to come in for Kansas.
Luke Mann led the offensive attack for the Tigers. He started the scoring off with a three-run homer in the first inning and sent in another runner with a double in the fourth inning. He led the team with four RBI in the win.
Head coach Steve Bieser and company burned through five pitchers on Tuesday, ahead of another SEC series, which begins on Thursday. Nic Smith started the game for the Tigers, but was pulled after one frame, giving up three runs on three hits.
St. Elizabeth alum Brock Lucas earned the win for Mizzou on the hill. He had one strikeout over about one inning.
Next up - Mizzou will host Ole Miss at Taylor Stadium on Thursday, May 4. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
