Columbia College softball tops William Woods in AMC Tournament action

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The No. 4-seeded Columbia College softball team topped No. 5-seeded William Woods, 4-1, in the opening round of the AMC Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

The game was scoreless until the third inning when CC's Suzanna Shanks reached on an Owls error and Hickman alum Emily King drove in an RBI double. Abigail Prenger also registered an RBI in the Cougar win.

In the circle, Rock Bridge alum Ella Schouten pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and just one run allowed on four hits.

Up next - Columbia College will move on to play Cottey College on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Antimi Sports Complex.
