Sunday Sit-down with Chris Kwiecinski
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones brought on the Columbia Tribune's Chris Kwiecinski this week's edition of Sunday Sit-down.
The two talked about both Mizzou men's basketball and football.
Head coach Dennis Gates and company beat Ole Miss on Saturday to end regular-season action. That and an Auburn win, earned MU a double-bye in the SEC Tournament and a No. 4 seeding. Mizzou will either meet Tennessee or the winner of the Ole Miss, South Carolina game on Friday.
"It's hard because we don't know what Mizzou team we're gonna get," Kwiecinski said. "If Mizzou goes in and shoots 50 percent from three, like in the next three games, there's a good chance they could just run their way to the championship game, like there's a good chance they'll be playing that Sunday. Then then all bets are off and then you could see this team going from like a seven seed in the tournament to maybe even like a four or five, just depending on what happens and going forward the next week or so."
The talk of the town is if Mizzou standout senior forward Kobe Brown will stay another year at Mizzou or not. The Tiger said he has not thought about his decision yet, but will once the season wraps up. Kwiecinski said he could see Brown staying in Columbia, depending on his NBA Draft evaluations.
"I mean, I think if you can lure him back and say, 'hey, you've got one more ride with Mizzou. Go out the best player that we've seen in the last five years,'" he said. "He's got a decision to make, but it's not an easy one. He's gonna have to make it and I think there's a good chance we'll probably see him back."
The Mizzou football team also took to the practice fields over the past week for spring camp. Kwiecinksi said the defense has really grabbed his eye so far.
