Mizzou WBB resets on bye week before final five conference game
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After a loss to Alabama, the Mizzou women's basketball team has a whole week to work out the bumps as the Tigers prepare for a road trip to Arkansas on Sunday.
During the week, the team has time heal and also look back on what went wrong against the Crimson Tide.
"Our one on one accountability wasn't very good," said head coach Robin Pingeton. "We got beat on a lot of just direct line drives. I went back and clipped in and 52 of their points were really just one on one opportunities."
With a 4-7 record in the SEC, Pingeton said her team knows what they need to do to continue their season into March.
"My guess would be if you can get to 8-8 in SEC play, I don't remember a team not making the tournament, but I thin you're still on the bubble," Pingeton said. "We have five games left, if you want to get a seat at the table you got to win all five."
Pingeton's group has shown signs of greatness. Jayla Kelly is averaging 3.9 points per game, but against Tennessee she had a break through posting 14 points and nine rebounds. Pingeton said it's the same with other parts of the roster and they're just waiting on it all to come together.
"You're seeing some glimpses of different players and now the challenge is to put it all together," Pingeton said. "That night where we're clicking on all cylinders and everyone's playing their 'A game' that hasn't happened for us yet."
The Tigers will travel to Fayetteville to take on the Razorbacks Sunday at 2 p.m.
