Mizzou women’s basketball takes first SEC loss against Arkansas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team took its first SEC loss of the season Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena against Arkansas 77-55.

The Tigers got off to a rough start down 19-9 after a 15-0 Razorbacks run. In the first half, MU shot just 19% from the field and couldn't manage to get themselves out of that hole.

Mizzou was led by Haley Troup with 24 points. Lauren Hansen was the only other player to reach double-figures with 10 points and five rebounds.

Mama Dembele led the team in assists with six and Hayley Frank led the boards with seven.

The Tigers finished the day shooting 29% from the field and 28% from three. The team also finished with just seven total assists compared to 11 turnovers.

Arkansas was led by Saylor Poffenbarger with 24 points and a double-double from Erynn Barnum with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Up next - Mizzou will host LSU Thursday at 6 p.m.
