Mizzou MBB stays undefeated in overtime win

WICHITA, Kan. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team almost let the undefeated record slip out of their hands in Wichita on Tuesday night. The Tigers narrowly beat the Shockers, 88-84 in overtime, to remain unbeaten in the Dennis Gates era.

Wichita State went on a 10-0 run to open up the second half, which gave the group their first lead of the game. Mizzou had only trailed in a game for 13 minutes this season prior to Tuesday night's game.

MU battled back in the second half to tie it up at 71 points apiece, which sent it to overtime at Charles Koch Arena. The Tigers did enough to come out on top in those extra minutes.

Noah Carter led the team with 20 points, along with eight boards. Guard D'Moi Hodge was right behind Carter with 19 points on the night.

Gates' team leads the nation in assists and had multiple games with more than 20 this season, however, the group put up 14 in the loss to the Shockers.

Up next - Mizzou will return home to host Southeast Missouri State on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Mizzou Arena.
