INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (KMIZ)

Kansas City lost its first game of the season courtesy of a long touchdown drive from Indianapolis in the final seconds of the game.

Quarterback Matt Ryan hit rookie tight end Jelani Woods with a 12 yard touchdown pass to upset the Chiefs, after trailing 17-13 with just seconds left in the game. The Colts marched 76 yards down the field in the final eight minutes to get that game-winning touchdown.

Kansas City did have one last chance to get into field goal range, however, quarterback Patrick Mahomes could not connect with wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster on a pass over the middle which turned into an interception. That interception was Mahomes' first of the season.

Mahomes didn't have his best outing on Sunday. He finished the game 20-35 with 262 yards, one touchdown, and that one interception. The Chiefs never got the run game going, as Mahomes was the team's leader in rushing yards with 26 yards on four carries.

With the loss, Kansas City dropped to 2-1 on the season.

Up next - the Chiefs will make the trip to Tampa Bay to meet the Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football at 7:20 p.m.
