Brady Cook defines success ahead of Tigers home opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's starting quarterback Brady Cook said the only thing on his mind leading up to the season opener Thursday against Louisiana Tech is getting a win.

"I don't have any personal goals or stats or accolades or anything like that we just need to come off the field and see a W on the scoreboard," Cook said.

As a kid from St. Louis, Cook has always dreamed of playing at Mizzou and now in his third year, he has been named as a team captain.

"It's something a year ago I would've never imagined but at the same time I can because I've put in a lot of work to gain the trust of my teammates and when I found out, it was a big moment for me," Cook said.

A lot of talk across the state this week has surrounded freshman receiver Luther Burden and the big expectations surrounding him this season. One thing was clear when talking to the offensive players on Monday, they are certain Burden will block out the noise and make an impact in Columbia.

"He's still a freshman but I do think he has the talent and is ready to go compete in this conference right now," said wide receiver Mookie Cooper. "He's got it in him it's just if he's going to bring it on game day."

"He's just ready to get back out there, so am I," Cook said. "I told him, 'Hey man, you're going to have opportunities to go up and make plays and I'm going to make sure you have a chance to so just go do your thing and nothing changes," Cook said.
