Tolton’s “young and hungry” program continues to grow

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Father Tolton has a lot of underclassmen going into the 2022 season, but head coach Michael Egnew is happy with how far the program has come.

As Egnew enters his fifth season with the Trailblazers, he says he has more players than before.

"My first year here I had 17 kids and that was four year ago and we've slowly built the roster up to about 50 kids," Egnew said.

Tolton finished 5-4 last season with some games that were neck and neck. Egnew says that is one of the biggest things they hope to overcome going into the new season.

"For us every single game that we fought, it was a giant fight. Every single game we played was a challenge, every game was close so for us the challenge is to help distance those games a little it so that not every game is down to the wire," Egnew said.

Tolton will kick off its season Aug. 26 in Salisbury at 7 p.m.
