Big outing for Mizzou at the USA Track and Field Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Eight Mizzou athletes competing at USA Track and Field Championships this week and two finished with big results.

Freshman Ames Burton earned a spot on Team USA for the World U20 Championships in August after finishing second in the discus.

Burton tossed a 54.08m / 177-5 on Friday which is the fourth best performance all-time at Mizzou.

Arianna Fisher also had a big outing, she earned fourth place in the triple jump with a 13.63m / 44-8.75. This was a personal best and broke the previous school record (13.57m / 44-6.25).

Plus, Olympian and former Tiger Karissa Schweizer will represent Mizzou at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in July after a silver finish.

Schweizer earned silver in the 5,000m with her season best at a time of 15:49.32. She will represent Team USA in both the 5K and the 10,000 meters.
