Father Tolton captures first-ever state championship

OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

For the first time in program history, the Tolton Trailblazers are state champions. The baseball team took down Springfield Catholic 8-4 in the title game on Thursday night.

The Blazers trailed the Fightin' Irish 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, however, a Justus Martin inside the park home run tied things up. The bats fired up from there, as Logan Thompson and JC Putnam also both plated runners on Thursday.

With Tolton's win, Mid-Missouri made a clean sweep of the state title games in classes one through four. St. Elizabeth, Russellville, Southern Boone, and the Trailblazers all took home a trophy.
