MU men’s basketball full coaching staff talks upcoming season, transfer portal and more Tuesday afternoon

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball coaching staff is officially complete under Head Coach Dennis Gates. The staff gathered with members of the media Tuesday afternoon to talk all things Tigers hoops.

Gates was joined by Associate Head Coach Charlton Young and assistants Dicky Nutt and Kyle Smithpeters.

On Monday, forward Kobe Brown announced that he will officially be returning to Mizzou for his last season.

"His best basketball is ahead of him and I'm excited that he's decided to call me coach. I think in this world where the transfer portal is so popular, that young man did not even put his name in and it speaks volumes," Gates said.

Young said that the staff is still working to bring in a few missing elements to the team. "If we can get another long wing that can really shoot it and we can get another big that can rim run and protect the rim, we definitely will take them."

The full coaching staff was also at the Mizzou Arena Tuesday including: Chief of Staff Matt Cline, Special Assistant to Head Coach Ryan Sharbaugh, Director of Scouting and Analytics Michael Fly, Director of Basketball Operations Chase Goldstein, Director of Athletic Performance Sean Conaty and Scouting Coordinator Dalon King.

The full interviews with staff can be found in the player above.
