Jonah Sarabia becomes first Tolton baseball player to sign to play D1
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
On Monday, Father Tolton's Jonah Sarabia became the first baseball player in school history to sign on to play D1 baseball.
Sarabia was surrounded by his family, coaches, teammates and friends Monday as he signed on to play at Southeast Missouri State University.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound pitcher says he's excited to start his career at SEMO. "Coach Sawyer down there is a really good guy and a great coach. I know they have a lot of good talent down there and I'm just hoping I can go down there and make an impact," Sarabia said.
Sarabia says he is honored to be the first, but hopes a lot of his teammates at Tolton can follow in his footsteps.
"Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to play Division One baseball and to finally put it in print and knowing that I'm going to do it, it means a lot to me and it's a dream come true," Sarabia said.
In a hot take of the day, Sarabia says he thinks the Redhawks have what it takes to defeat Mizzou baseball tomorrow in the match up at Taylor Stadium.
