The St. Louis Cardinals said Monday that they had signed franchise great Albert Pujols to a one-year contract.

Pujols was a star in St. Louis in the early 2000s, helping lead the club to two World Series titles. However, his skills have declined significantly since he left first to play for the Angels and later the Dodgers.
