Columbia College WBB coach to step down, AD to take over

COLUMBIA, Mo.

Columbia College women's basketball coach Taylor Possail will step down at the end of the season, according to a release. Athletic Director James Arnold will take over as head coach of the program on April 1.

Possail has been the head coach of the Cougars since 2017, but he's been with the program for eight years. He led CC to a 114-29 record.

"I am excited and nervous for the next step of my life, but I am ready to attack it the same way we attacked every day at Columbia College," Possail said in a release. "The program is in a wonderful place, and I am proud of what we have accomplished. The future of CC women's basketball is bright, and I am already looking forward to watching them next season."

According to the release, Possail is leaving coaching in order to focus on spending more time with his family.

Arnold will soon become CC's fourth ever women's basketball coach. He'll continue to serve as the athletic director as well.

"The opportunity to continue the level of excellence our women's basketball program has achieved is now in the very capable hands of James Arnold," President of Columbia College Dr. David Russell said in a release. "He has been successful at every level of college basketball and we are fortunate to be able to make a smooth transition of leadership for our program."

Arnold has nearly two decades worth of women's basketball coaching experience. He most recently coached at Westminster College in Fulton.
