Principal: Battle High School threats not credible
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Battle High School's principal told parents Friday that rumors about safety threats at Friday night's football game against Helias Catholic High School "have been found not credible."
"Yesterday we were alerted to a number of rumors going around regarding tonight’s home football game," Principal Adam Taylor wrote in a letter to parents. "The rumors included a possible safety threat at the event.
"Each report has been thoroughly investigated by school staff, district safety and security, and the Columbia Police Department. None of the reports have been substantiated or have been found credible."
Taylor said additional police will be on hand at the game as a precaution.
"Making a threat or spreading rumors about a threat, can have serious consequences for the perpetrator(s)," Taylor wrote. "At the very least, it disrupts the learning environment for the students and consumes resources. Additionally, the perpetrator(s) could also face criminal charges as well as expulsion from school.
"Please take a moment to talk to your children and remind them that making any threat or spreading rumors about threats on a public school campus is never a joke. The consequences can have a life-long impact."
