Miami Heat sign former Mizzou standout

MAIMI, Fla. (KMIZ)

The Miami Heat signed former Mizzou guard Dru Smith in an undisclosed deal on Friday afternoon.

Smith joined the Heat this summer for NBA Summer League Action. He appeared in six games and averaged eight points, 2.5 assists, and 1.17 steals, shooting about 47 percent from the field.

The guard had a standout senior season with the Tigers, being named to the SEC All-Defensive Team after leading the conference in steals for the second-straight year.

Smith will join a slew of other former MU standouts to join the NBA, including Michael Porter Jr. and Jordan Clarkson.
