St. Elizabeth falls just short of state title

OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

The St. Elizabeth baseball team fell 3-0 in the Class 1 State Championship against Oran on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hornets were out to defend their 2019 state title, after the pandemic canceled out the 2020 season. Caleb Heckemeyer's group has made it to the final four for the past three straight seasons, finishing in second place in 2018 and taking it all in 2019.

Oran and St. Elizabeth are no strangers, as this game was a rematch of the 2018 Class 1 title game. Back then, the Eagles took it 4-1 over the Hornets.

St. Elizabeth finishes the season 21-6 overall, with the team's longest win-streak of the season being 11 games.
