Capital City announces new football coach

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

Jefferson City Schools named former Rock Bridge defensive coordinator Joe Collier as Capital City's new head football coach on Wednesday.

Collier spent 16 seasons with the Bruins, coaching linebackers and the defense as a whole. In his time with Rock Bridge, the team won four district championships and played in one state championship.

Before his coaching career began, Collier played collegiate football at both College of the Sequoias in California and Westminster College in Fulton.

In a press release Capital City Athletic Director Robert Ndesoskia said, "when hiring coaches at CCHS we look for candidates who can foster positive relationships with our kids and push them to become the best versions of themselves."

In addition to coaching football, Collier will also teach a strength and conditioning class at the high school.

“I’m so grateful for this head coaching opportunity and I’m looking forward to building upon the great foundation already at Capital City High School,” Collier said in the press release.
